Need a Crown Now? CEREC Can Quickly Help

There may be times when you need a crown fast, and CEREC can quickly help. When one of your teeth has become so weak or damaged that it is unable to perform the job it is supposed to do, it needs to be strengthened or it will eventually need to be extracted. Dental crowns are a common option for dental patients who have one or more teeth that are at risk of being lost, as it is ideal to keep one's natural teeth for as long as possible.

The difference between lab-made and CEREC crowns

Different from a traditional lab-made crown is the CEREC crown. A CEREC machine uses advanced computer technology that has been specifically created to design and generate crowns in a very short amount of time, which allows for one or even multiple crowns to be placed in just one day if needed. Lab-made crowns require the patient to receive a temporary crown while waiting up to several weeks for their permanent crown. The patient must also bite down on putty to take the dental impression that is sent to the lab to fashion the crown, which can be uncomfortable for some.

Why would someone need a crown immediately?

If someone has an existing crown that has broken or even has completely fallen out of their mouth, they need to get a crown replacement as soon as possible. If someone experiences some type of trauma to one or more of their teeth, then they are in need of emergency dental repair so they do not lose any of their teeth. CEREC is also a much more convenient option for people who are too busy to visit the dentist multiple times to complete their restoration.

When someone feels that they need to see a dentist in order to get a crown placed over one or more of their teeth, they need to make a dental appointment as soon as possible. When they come in for their appointment, the dentist will first perform an evaluation so they can provide the patient with a proper diagnosis. If the dentist decides that a crown is indeed necessary, they will begin the process of making the crown in-house, which allows the patient to receive any necessary treatment right away.
