What is a Dental Veneer?

A veneer is a thin shell made of porcelain or ceramic. The shade of the veneer, along with its shape and size, is made to match your surrounding teeth so it blends in perfectly with your smile.

How Is a Dental Veneer Used?

We can accomplish a variety of things using dental veneers. By placing veneers on top of the teeth, we can close gaps, make teeth even in length, cover dark stains, and create a uniform-looking smile. Veneers can create a look that rivals most celebrities’ smiles. The nice thing is that you do not have to be famous to improve your smile. You simply need to call (305) 614-2438 and schedule an appointment to see Dr. Mirtha Amador.

Veneers in Coral Gables, Florida

We use dental veneers for cosmetic improvements and restorations. When teeth become cracked, chipped, or broken, a veneer can restore the tooth to its original look and function. As long as the tooth structure is intact, we can restore the appearance of a tooth while making it possible to eat and speak without feeling any discomfort.

The Procedure

When you visit our Gables Exceptional Dentistry office, we will take an impression of your teeth to create your veneers in a lab. Your veneers will match the size, shape, and color of your teeth, and take a week or more to create.

To place dental veneers, we will first prepare your teeth by gently removing a small portion of the enamel to help the veneers lay flat and stay in line with your gum tissue. After preparing your teeth, we will secure temporary veneers with removable glue. While wearing temporary veneers, it is important to brush your teeth gently and avoid eating anything that may push them out of place. Since temporary veneers are secured by removable glue, they can be moved fairly easily.

When your permanent veneers are ready, you will come back to Gables Exceptional Dentistry so we can remove the temporaries and ensure that the new veneers are a perfect fit. They are typically attached using a water-based solution to see how they look. If any adjustments need to be made, they will be done at this time. Otherwise, we will clean your teeth and bond your dental veneers in place. You can start flashing your stunning new smile right away after treatment!

After the Procedure

Your teeth will typically be sore for a few days after the preparation phase and after placing your permanent veneers. During this time, you can take over-the-counter pain medication to help you stay comfortable. You should also get rest and use a cold compress to reduce any swelling. We recommend that you watch what you eat for a few days and stick with soft foods. While there is a short recovery time when getting veneers, the procedure is entirely worth it because, in the end, you will have a beautiful smile.

Benefits of Dental Veneers

The biggest benefit of veneers is how amazing they make your teeth look. Since veneers use your natural teeth, there is no need for surgery, and the recovery time is short. Veneers are made to match your other teeth and look natural, so no one will be able to tell you had any cosmetic dentistry work.

Another benefit of dental veneers is that they are made of a stain-resistant material. This means your teeth will stay whiter and brighter, even if your favorite beverage is a hot cup of coffee. Your smile will stay looking great for years!
