What is CEREC® Technology?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It is a system that allows us to complete restorative dentistry in one visit, eliminating the need for return visits and temporary restorative dentistry while you wait for the permanent restoration. CEREC uses computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing, allowing us to fabricate ceramic restorations on-site. The benefit for our patients is that their time in the chair is significantly less than it would have been had we opted for a conventional restoration procedure.
How Does CEREC® Work?
We take digital images of your teeth and mouth. We upload these images to the software and then generate a computerized image, together with precise measurements and a design for the new restoration.
Using the measurements and design created by the software, we fabricate the restoration in our office using our milling machine. This means you do not have to be fitted with a temporary restoration, then come back for a permanent one. The software is so precise that we rarely need to make changes after the restoration is in place. We can complete all the necessary steps in just one appointment.
